Join us to celebrate the land and honor the people who make South Hero’s community special.
We will be kicking off the celebration with two great activities: a special children’s exploration of the pond and forest behind Folsom School with naturalist and educator Ellen Gawarkiewicz, and a pollinator tour of Hackett’s Orchard with farmer John Hayden of the Farm Between (RSVP required for the two morning walks). Then we’ll gather under the tent for a potluck picnic, the latest news from SHLT, and our community conservation awards.
We are thrilled to be recognizing Dr. David Hobbs with this year's Community Conservation Award, in thanks and recognition for his ongoing commitment to getting kids and adults outside and active in South Hero. Dr. Hobbs has been instrumental in building trails in our town, including the Round Pond Natural Area Trails and the South Hero Recreation Park. He is also one of the forces behind the Bike Train to Folsom School, the "Try-athalon" race for kids, annual swim lessons at White's Beach, and more. We hope you will join us to say thanks and celebrate the work Dr. Hobbs has done in our special town.
Cook Sisters Catering will provide the main dish at the picnic, please bring a side dish or dessert to share. RSVPs for the picnic are welcome but not required (it helps us to estimate how many to cook for, but please show up no matter what!). Please call Emily at 372-3786 or email emily@shlt.org to sign up.
You can sign up for the whole day, for just a morning walk, or for just the picnic.
