Earth Day Volunteer Tree Planting Followed by Potluck & Concert

  • South Hero Recreation Park/Folsom School 75 South Street SOUTH HERO Vermont United States (map)

This Earth Day SHLT is partnering with the South Hero Congregational Church to host a volunteer work day at the South Hero Recreation Park!

We will be celebrating Earth Day by planting trees and removing invasive species at this public park. The South Hero Recreation Park is home to about 5 acres of ash woodlands which are at risk from the emerald ash borer. We expect 99% of the ash to perish in the next 5 years, so the goal for the day is to proactively plant native species such as silver maple, bur oak, dogwood, willow and more in the understory that will eventually replace the ash forest and maintain forest cover. Along with tree planting we will be cutting and bagging invasive buckthorn and pulling out invasive honeysuckle to give the seedlings a chance.

All are welcome, but please leave pets at home.

First session - 10AM to 12:00 PM.

Second Session - 12:30-2:30PM

Come for one or both sessions!

Please RSVP to let us know you are coming: RSVP HERE>>

Please Bring: Water bottle, gloves (we’ll have extra), clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
