Join the South Hero Land Trust and the Vermont Center for Ecostudies for a lady beetle survey of Round Pond State Park!
In Vermont, there are at least 44 different species of lady beetle–7 introduced and 37 native. The Vermont Atlas of Life team at the Vermont Center for Ecostudies has been conducting a Vermont Lady Beetle Atlas to survey Vermont’s lady beetle fauna to help us understand declines and disappearances of multiple native species. The June 24 lady beetle survey of Round Pond will contribute to our first lady beetle bioblitz of the year.
Make sure to bring sunscreen, tick protective gear, food, and lots of water. If you have them, wealso recommend bringing a sweep net, clear containers to photograph lady beetles in, binoculars, and a camera (your phone is fine too!). We will have extra gear for those who need it.
This event is free and open to all; email eileen@shlt.org with any questions.
If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, or are a close contact/exposed to COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, please do not attend. Thank you!
