Join resident nature-enthusiast Chuck Hulse on a tour of the spring wildflowers of the Landon Community Trail and hunt for these ephemeral signs of spring.
This year we are changing up the format! Instead of the usual "drag and brag" style where we walk as a group from flower to flower, we will instead be offering an interactive, choose-your-own adventure style activity. We think it's going to be super fun, and also better for not only learning the flowers, but getting to know them as members of your extended community. There will also be a kids version so all ages are welcome!
This is a free walk and open to all ages. Rsvp’s are encouraged. RSVP HERE>>
Fun fact: Did you know that Chuck also created a field guide to the wildflowers of the Landon Community Trail? The guide is a great way to learn about the wildflowers of the area by season, and a perfect compliment to a spring walk at Landon. The PDF version of this free guide is available on our website, and the print version of the guide is available for checkout at the Worthen Library!
What to Expect: Please come prepared for muddy and slippery trail conditions, as well as spring showers. The trail is about 1/2 mile in total with mild elevation gain. Be advised that ticks are present in the woods. Check out the Vermont Dept of Health for tips for preventing tick bites: https://www.healthvermont.gov/disease-control/tickborne-diseases/prevent-tick-bites-tickborne-diseases
When you RSVP, we will send you a reminder email before the event as well as updates on weather/conditions, if needed.
Participants under age 16 should be accompanied by an adult. We also ask that you please leave pets at home.
This event is free and open to all. Questions? Email guy@shlt.org
