Green Up Day!

Join your friends and neighbors on May 6th for a community clean-up effort on Green Up Day!  South Hero Land Trust is organizing this annual event to clean up beaches, streets and trails that make South Hero special. There will be volunteer options for the whole family, and all volunteers are invited to the free BBQ afterwards! An hour or two of your time will make a huge difference in cleaning up our community in time for spring.

Street Cleanup

Independent street cleanup will take place all morning. Contact Guy at 372-3786 or guy@shlt.org to sign up for a street or street section. Green-Up Day bags and instructions will be available at the South Hero Land Trust Office.

Maintain the Rec Path

Join South Hero Land Trust and the South Hero Recreation Commission for a trail cleanup at the South Hero Recreation Path. Participants will work in crews to remove debris from the trail, making it accessible and safe for walkers and bikers this summer.  9:00-11:00 am.

White’s Beach Cleanup

This fun and rewarding activity is a great way to introduce young children to Green-Up Day. The whole family can help to remove trash and debris from White’s Beach, preparing the popular swimming spot for summer fun! 10:00-11:00 am.

Thank You BBQ

Join South Hero Land Trust from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Folsom Education & Community Center Playground for our annual Green-Up Day Thank You BBQ. Celebrate a cleaner, greener South Hero with free burgers, veggie burgers, and hotdogs. The BBQ is held to thank dedicated volunteers for their hard work keeping South Hero beautiful and caring for the community landscape. Many thanks to the Naud/Pendolino family for their continuing generosity in sponsoring the annual BBQ. And thank you Canamak Farms, Wally’s Place, Vermont Creamery, Islandacres Farm, St. Albans Cooperative Creamery, Island Homemade Ice Cream, and Vermont Smoke and Cure for their generous donation of delicious local food to the BBQ; this wouldn’t be possible without you!
