The grass is growing, the osprey are back, and Green Up Day is right around the corner!
This year South Hero Land Trust will once again NOT be hosting the thank-you barbeque to abide by State COVID-19 gathering guidelines, but we will be offering free coffee, cider and treats outside the library the morning of Green Up Day for volunteers who stop by to pick up their bags.
Send an email to guy@shlt.org or call 802-372-3786 if you are interested in helping with Green Up Day, along with:
- Your first choice for road section to green up
- Second choice for road section
- How many people in your party
- How many bags you think you need
We will get back to you with confirmation and info about recycling, hazardous waste, how to handle needles, and more.
Bag pickup will be outside the Worthen Library between 7-10 AM on Saturday, May 1st, the day of Green Up Day. There will also be free coffee, as well as cider and cider donuts donated by Hackett's Orchard!
We ask that volunteers complete their route by noon on Saturday, when the pickup crew will begin driving around taking filled bags from the side of the road to town-rented dumpster.
We are also looking for 2-4 households to help green up the beach. Email guy@shlt.org if you are interested.
All Green Up volunteers and coordinators will be required to follow all state guidelines for COVID-19, including wearing masks and maintaining 6 ft. social distancing around anyone outside their household at all times.
Thank you everyone for helping keep our towns roads trash free and looking great. Stay tuned for more details
